Malone Hotel was the place to be on the evening of the 22nd April, PANI got together and with over 100 guests and 11 Teams there was competition floating through the air for the annual corporate quiz evening.

The Teams came from Ulster Tatler, Inc Advertising, Alexander Boyd, MCE Public Relations, Lites Group NI, AV Browne, Belfast Telegraph, Mirror Group, Greer Publications, Adbugs, Ely Marketing, Fire IMC and Spirit Marketing.

8pm came and the evening entertainment event began with the first quiz night round Higher or Lower, INC took a huge hit early doors with all but one of their Team knocked out after the third card. The real quiz kicked off with What and Where and the first scores of the evening landed on our feet.

We had some special lookalikes at the event with the most recognizable being Comedian Sean Lock, he certainly made his presence felt and kept his Team in it from the start. The next Quiz Night round of General Knowledge proved that knowledge wasn't very general amongst the brains of Northern Ireland's publicity association.

It was time for the first quiz night score check of the evening, Definitive Vision showed early signs of defeat and not only were they not on the guest list but they almost didn't make the score sheet. The evening took a small twist when the heating in the room couldn't be turned off and teams started to use pieces of clothing as fans.

The specialist round was name the company logo and with this audience we expected big things, it was the McVities logo that caused the biggest stumbling block and only two teams managed top marks they were Lites Group an Team Spirit.

The final few rounds turned everything around and with Teletubbies, Meerkats and Team Spirit making it to final Animal race. Sitting in position 1 was Teletubbies, Position 2 Team Spirit, Position 3 Meerkats. After a quick brief of the rules the teams lined up ready to take the 2010 title.

The whistle went and all hell broke loose as they battled it out in the humid conditions. Teletubbies were first over the line, followed by Meerkats and then Team Spirit AKA Monkey. However after watching a replay it was clear that Teletubbies cheated and were relegated to second place.

PANI Business Breakfast

Alex Connock Digital Britain and Online TV, the "hot" media issue of the moment is the subject for the first PANI business event of the year to be held at The Waterfront next week.

For this event PANI is joining forces with the IPA to secure the speaker and the audience this event deserves. This is a hot topic! There has been considerable controversy over the Digital Britain report and it's relevance to Northern Ireland.

We have had assembly motions, requests for inclusion, complaints regarding exclusion, NIO apologies and calls for specific budget and spending allocation especially for Northern Ireland content.

However we don't want to be too parochial on this subject because there are more opportunities and developments that we need to know about. And who better to tell us than Alex Connock our guest speaker at the breakfast. Alex is an IPA speaker, co founder of Ten Alps in 1999 with Bob Geldorf and the No1 pick to give us the insight we need into these fascinating developments.

It promises to be informative, educational and great fun! Hope we see you there. Watch this space for follow up reports also.
